Tales of Duality: Snow White

Now many of you may or may know about the Clash of the Titans that’s happening this year(no not thaaatt 2010 atrocity but anyway we shall come to that later since there’s a sequel—yeah don’t ask. Yet)

What I mean is the two fairytale renaissance movies coming up this year, both based on one of literature most famous characters; Snow White. First one is Mirror Mirror directed by Tarsem Singh(he’s that dude who made the you-may-or-may-not-like- but still forgettable Immortals) It’s a comic version to the traditional story but with Tarsem’s visual ingenuity. It stars Julia Roberts as the humorous Evil Queen and Lily Collins(daughter of Phil Collins) whom you might remember from terrible movies like The Bourne Adolescence no wait sorry now I remember the name—Abduction! and another movie called Priest where she really had nothing to do but scream and be useless. Hang on, I think she did that in both movies. Ah who cares? Anyway this may be a game changer for her though because she really seems to fit the part of Snow White. The film is set for March 30th, 2012. Check out the trailer here!

On the other hand maybe you don’t like the comedy element in it, after all it was a pretty lighthearted story in the first place. Maybe you prefer a darker tone like Pride and Prejudice with Zombies or Little Women and Werewolves. In that case you might want to wait a little longer till June 1st for Snow White and the Huntsman. This is a more action oriented story staring Kristen Stewart(really? oh well) as Snow White, Charlize Theron(woot woot!) as the Evil Queen and…

THE GOD OF THUNDER!!! ok end of story.

Naah its just Chris(*cough* THOR) Hemsworth as the Huntsman. The story is a bit twisted here which is good. This time Snow White brings the fight to the Queen after being trained by the Huntsman. Here is the trailer!

Now there was another fairytale movie that was to release this year during March called Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton but since these two showed up and the upcoming Bourne Legacy starring Renner himself, the film was pushed back to Jan 2013. Anyway what do you guys think of these trailers? do you prefer a tough dark Snow White story or the same formula with added fun?
