Robbert Pattinson playing a badass?

Stephenie Meyer’s next book movie adaptation is a sci-fi?

Ok, firsts things first our very own Toronto-bred director David Croneberg, who gave us universal acclaimed films like A History Of Violence, Eastern Promises and the recent A Dangerous Method is now giving us a teaser of his next movie Cosmopolis starring…Robert Pattinson?

Make no mistake, Robert can act, provided you give him something outside Twilight, and he has proven that with Remember Me.

Still David Croneberg to take him in, it just might be something. This might be the role Pattinson can really hit for with the critics.

The Teaser is out. To be honest, there’s not much you can tell from it. It’s just too bizarre and too fast to get anything.

According to Wikipedia;

”Cosmopolis’ is the story of Eric Packer(Robert Pattinson), a 28 year old multi-billionaire asset manager who makes an odyssey across midtown Manhattan in order to get a haircut. The stretch limo which adorns the cover of the book is richly described as highly technical and very luxurious, filled with television screens and computer monitors, bulletproof and floored with Carrara marble. It is also cork lined to eliminate (though unsuccessfully, as Packer notes) the intrusion of street noise.

Packer’s voyage is obstructed by various traffic jams caused by a presidential visit to the city, a funeral procession for a Sufi rap star and a full-fledged riot. Along the way, the hero has several chance meetings with his wife, seeing her in a taxi, a bookstore, and lying naked in the street, taking part in a movie as an extra. Meanwhile, Packer is stalked by two men, a comical “pastry assassin” and an unstable “credible threat”. Through the course of the day, the protagonist loses incredible amounts of money for his clients by betting against the rise of the yen, a loss that parallels his own fall. Packer seems to relish being unburdened by the loss of so much money, even stopping to make sure he loses his wife’s fortune as well, to ensure his ruin is inevitable”.

Just look at it. Did he just shoot a bullet through his hand?!

And there’s this, Stephenie Meyer-  author of Twilight has a new movie adaptation on another of her books. This time its sci fi. Sounds good? Time will tell.

Director Andrew Niccol, who gave us Lord Of War and most recently In Time is behind the helm of this one. Set for a 2013 release, The Host tells the story of Alien beings from another planet have invaded the earth and have begun to take over the bodies and minds of humans. Melanie Stryder’s body has been inhabited by one of the “souls” named Wanderer, but she refuses to fade away.

Melanie Stryder is being played by Saoirse Ronan, star of Hanna. Also in the cast is Max Irons, son of the Jeremy Irons(this should be interesting) Diane Kruger and William Hurt.

Here’s the teaser trailer,
