Go Joes!: G.I Joe Retaliation Review

So with a prepared mind-set I saw took a chance at this movie. I can tell you this, if you’re a fan of GI Joe you will be thoroughly entertained, which I did. If you’re not, then you may or may not like this film depending on how much you are expecting. Directed by John Chu(of the Step Up series fame and now chosen director for the Masters of the Universe remake) this is a complete a dumb but stupid loud fun package of a film.

This is it! The list of all list! The OG of the gaming world! (you get what I am trying to say right if not tell me and I will send you a personal list of more describing terms I use to well describe my end of year list [Not really so do not ask])

So why not take this time to read about some of the best games and movies that came out last year (according to me, if you do not like any of my choices well then too bad). Also since I do not like doing things the normal way, I am not limiting my choices to things that only came out in 2012. As long as I played it for the first time in 2012 it has a chance to make the list.

Good but not quite list worthy

It is the end of the year and with that comes a lot of things (and the end of the world is not one of them), one of the main things is Top ten/ five game/movies of 2012. So since I have this site here I thought why not actually play and come up with a list of the games and movies that I thought were good. In this post I am going to list games or movies that I though were good but it not have that special something to make the big list.

Time Crisis: Looper Review

Posted: October 5, 2012 by VerryJerry in Movie

I have to admit, good marketing goes a long way. September is never really a month for great movies. It’s usually a dormant time for everyone to go to the big screen. Summer’s over and so, it begins: we all have to get back to the grind. Really, it usually tends to be bland that even movies that are being played are either dramas or low-budget action fest. That said, Looper really scores in timing here.

Okay so maybe it came out near the end of September(28th if you want the precise date jeez), it still is the perfect refresher in the wake of action summer. What’s the competition? Resident Evil? Hardly(even though that franchise tends to make millions no matter how stupid it gets) Maybe Dredd might have better chances(and that film my friend, is definitely worth more than any of RE movies combined)

Editor Note:I know this is late but hey better late than never. Also there will be SPOILERS in the “review” if you have not seen it for the tenth time so be warned.

The last movie in the trilogy and the last one Christoper Nolan (he has done an amazing job) is directing, is the movie going to end with a bang or poof. After 8 years in hiding, Bruce wayne needs to don the suit again to save the people of Gotham from a new enemy that rose out of the darkness. Sometimes legends must die.

Indie Game: The movie

This documentary follows the development process of three games on the Xbox; Braid, Super Meat Boy and Fez. The last of which I have not played yet but the first two are really amazing games and are worth looking into. Thanks to the crew at WBIT, I had the chance to watch the movie (they are not responsible for making the movie, I just won a contest and they sent me the movie). Right now the only places to get the movie are at the Indie game the movie website, iTunes and Steam. The movie gives a good insight into indie game development and something worth watching if you want to get into the industry or have a love of gaming.

Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in a Wachowski movie?

Posted: June 7, 2012 by VerryJerry in Movie

Andy and Larry(or Lana) are back!

The Wachowski brothers were on silent hill for the last few years with a few hits or misses like The Invasion, Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin.

However only Speed Racer was their actual offspring and the other two were just produced and written by them.

That all does not matter now since the brothers have quite load up for us starting this year with their Cloud Atlas, a sci-fi film based on the book  of the same name.

The official plot is said to be – ”an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.”

It has an ensemble cast of Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Jim Sturgess, Keith David, James D’Arcy, Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving and Channing Tatum?

Speaking of Channing Tatum, the brothers have gotten him and Mila Kunis to star in another sci-fi planned trilogy (like The Matrix series)called ‘Jupiter Ascending‘ based on their screenplay.

Some plot details have been leaked regarding ‘Jupiter Ascending

– Its hero is an unassuming, recent Russian immigrant, played by Mila Kunis, who makes a living by scrubbing toilets. However, she has the exact same DNA as the Queen of the Universe, and therefore threatens her rule.
– It’s a world where humans are considered lesser beings, and “higher forms of life are watching us from other, albeit this time non-meta worlds, but actual, other worlds, as in planets and moons”
– A bounty hunter, perhaps played by Channing Tatum, is sent to kill Kunis but instead falls in love with her(obviously)
– Joseph Gordon-Levitt might also be involved; unspecified reasons

I know this is incredibly late and for that I apologize. My excuse would be that I had exams, but now that those are finished with here we go.

Synopsis: A pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.

Plot wise ^ that is all you will ever need to know. This is a movie for when you have no better options to pick from. The movie itself was very well done, surpassed what little expectations I had for it. Jonah Hill delivered as usual, but what really surprised me was Channing Tatum. The guy can actually pull of a comedy well.

The writing duo of Hill and Michael Bacall really did well. The script covers for any flaws that is has with the witty, and crude, humour.

The acting was good for the type of movie that this was. The actor that surprised me, personally the most, was Channing Tatum. After fitting is to the hunky solo troubled protagonist character type, it was refreshing to see in take on a role where he shared that spotlight, and shared it really well in my opinion. Now we all know that Tatum can act outside of chick flicks, dance films and stereotypical action.

The action in this movie was all surprising well done. I feel the comedy driven action was done quite well.

Though this movie does have its share of cheap and crude humour, I definitely recommend watching this movie at some point in the near future.
